The Panthers opened their season with a 36-0 win over visiting Rogersville.

Neither team could put any points on the scoreboard in the first quarter. Rogersville had the first chance to score when they recovered a Panther fumble on the  Panther 12 yard line. Two plays later the Panthers recovered a fumble on their own 15 yard line. On the next play Johnny Healy took the ball into the Rogersville endzone, but a holding penalty returned the ball to the Panther 15.

On the first play of the second quarter Mountain Grove turned the ball over on downs on the Rogersville 25.

Rogersville couldn’t advance the ball and following a Wildcat punt took control of the ball on the 50. Five plays later Healy would score on a 28 yard run. The Panthers failed to convert on a two-point conversion attempt.

The Panther defense again held and Mountain Grove returned the Wildcat punt to the 45 yard line. Two plays later Jacob Mitchell would go 45 yards for a touchdown. Mitchell had 77 yards on seven carries in the game. Healy would carry in for the two-point conversion.

On their next possession, Healy would connect with Jamison Cain on a 26 yard touchdown only to have it called back on an illegal shift penalty.

Rogersville would intercept the ball two plays later with one second remaining in the game.

The Panthers would take the ball on the opening kickoff of the second half and score when Healy connected with Cain on a 59 yard touchdown pass. Healy carried in for the two-point conversion giving the Panthers a 22-0 lead.

The fourth Panther touchdown of the evening came on their next possession. Trystan Short scored on a 22 yard touchdown and Cory Allen carried in for the two-point conversion.
