Lady Pirates defeat Morrisville

Friday afternoon the Norwood Lady Pirates took a win in the  Morrisville Tournament, defeating the host 2-1.

Emily Chadwell was on the mound for the Lady Pirates.

The first scoring in the game came in the fourth inning when Norwood tallied both of their runs.

Jenna Ogletree doubled and would score on a Cheyenne McGraw single. The second run was the result of a Cherokee McGraw homer.

Morrisville scored their lone run in the fifth inning.

Earlier in the week the Lady Pirates had fallen to Lebanon, 11-5.

Lebanon took a 1-0 lead in the first and added another run int he second. Lebanon was up 5-0 after three innings of play and added four more in the fourth.

Norwood picked up a run in the fifth when Ogletree tripled and scored on a Cheyenne McGraw single.

The Lady Pirates scored four more runs in the sixth. Emma McIntosh walked and moved to second on a Courtney Wilson sacrifice. McIntosh would score on a Madison Crain double. A Melody Campbell single scored Crain. Campbell would advance to second on a throw to the plate and come all the way around to score on a second error. Ogletree would score the final run of the inning when Lebanon committed two additional errors.

Lebanon added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to round out the scoring.

Lady Pirate coach Phil Reed stated that the squad struggled with runners on base, but were able to fight back when down.

In a matchup with a tough Rogersville squad the Lady Pirates fell, 15-3.

Reed felt that the team pitched pretty well, but that they struggled defensively.

In the game Ogletree had an RBI triple and Cheyenne McGraw connected on a two run home run.
