Lady Panthers take wins from Eminence and Willow Springs

The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers took wins from Eminence and Willow Springs in play last week.

The Lady Panthers edged Willow Springs, 38-36.

The teams were tied after one quarter of play and Mountain Grove moved out to a 20-16 halftime lead. The Lady Panthers stretched their lead out to five after three quarters  of play.

Willow Springs outscored the Lady Panthers, 10-7, in the final quarter, but Mountain Grove was able to hold off Willow Springs for the win.

Emma Loughridge and Sadie Dugger led the Mountain Grove scoring with 9. Rachel Loughridge had 9; Paige Lutes, 6; Katie Wolter, 3; Allison Griffin, 2; and Nichole Fletcher, 1.

In the non-conference game with Eminence, the Lady Panthers had an easier win taking a 54-34 victory.

Mountain Grove quickly jumped out to a 21-6 win after one quarter of play and were up 31-17 at halftime.

Dugger led the scoring with 13. Emma Loughridge had 11; Wolter, 8; Mary Pursell, 5; Griffin, Rachel Loughridge and Fletcher, 4; and Kacey Watson and Lutes, 2.

Junior Varsity Action

The Mountain Grove junior varsity took a 35-25 win over Eminence. The Lady Panthers were up 21-7 in the first half of play. They were outscored 18-14 in the second half, but easily held the lead.

Mary Purcell led the scoring with 12. Kacey Watson had 9; Audrey Ogletree, 6; and Lilly Choate, Mackenzie Berry, Malissa Emmerson and Jaden Jordan, 2.

The Lady Panther junior varsity defeated Willow Springs, 37-31.

Mountain Grove had a one point lead after the first quarter of play and had doubled up Willow Springs by halftime, 25-12. The Lady Panthers failed to score in the third period and Willow Springs pulled within two.

Mountain Grove came back in the final quarter and put up 12 points to Willow’s 8 to secure the win.

Watson led the Mountain Grove scoring with 11. Ogletree had 7; Pursell, 6; Berry, 5; Meagan Bell and Emmerson, 4.
