Norwood over Hartville in tourney

The Nowood Lady Pirates took a 7-3 win from Hartville in the Morrisville Tournament.

Norwood scored the first run of the game in the first inning when Madison Crain reached on a dropped third strike. Cheyenne McGraw singled scoring Crain.

The Lady Pirates were able to score their second run in the third inning when Jenna Ogletree walked and stole second. McGraw again picked up an RBI with a single scoring Ogletree.

Hartville came back with a run in the bottom of the fourth.

Norwood rounded out their scoring in the sixth with five runs. Madison Crain doubled and stole third. She would score on a Melody Campbell single. Campbell scored on an Ogletree double. Cheyenne McGraw was hit by a pitch. Emily Chadwell reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Ogletree would score on a passed ball. Cherokee McGraw doubled scoring the final two runs.

Hartville scored their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Pirates later fell to Marshfield, 12-2 in the tournament.

Norwood took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning when with two outs, Alyssa Watson singled and Courtney Wilson followed up with another single. A Marshfield error allowed Watson to score and Wilson scored on a Madison Crain single.

Marshfield came back to tie the game in the bottom of the second. They added two more in the third, six in the fourth and single runs in the fifth and sixth.

In a regular season game, Norwood shutout Gainesville, 11-0.

Norwood scored four runs in the first inning with just one hit. The Lady Pirates had three hitters hit and had a walk and error help out along with three wild pitches.

Norwood added a run in the second. Campbell, Ogletree and Chadwell walked, and Campbell was forced home when Cherokee McGraw was hit by a pitch.

Another Lady Pirate run scored in the fourth when Ogletree singled and stole second. Cherokee McGraw singled scoring Ogletree.

Three more runs came home in the fifth. Emma McIntosh doubled to open the inning and Wilson, Crain and Campbell would single. The third run scored  on a Cherokee McGraw single.

The final two Norwood runs of the game scored in the sixth. Chloe Crain walked and moved to second on a wild pitch and to third on a ground out. Crain would score on another ground out. Madison Crain would single and later scored on a Cheyenne McGraw single.
