Norwood Pirates take wins from Morrisville and Seymour

The Norwood Pirates took wins from Morrisville and Seymour in play last week, but fell to Conway.

The Pirates downed Morrisville, 12-0.

Weston Chadwell opened the scoring in the first inning with a homerun.

Norwood added seven in the third. A.J. Barnes singled and  Tyler Prichard and Chadwell would reach on errors. Joel Ogletree would single and Dalton Rein drove two more runs home with a double. The Pirates would use singles by Ben Campbell, Matt Davis and Chadwell, along with a Prichard double to push home the final runs of the inning.

A single Norwood run scored in the fourth when Rein doubled and scored on a Campbell single.

Norwood scored three in the fifth when Chadwell reached on an error and Ogletree followed with a homerun. Rein homered following Ogletree.

The Pirates used 10 hits including four extra base hits to take a 13-4 win from Seymour.

After Prichard had reached on an error Chadwell tripled and would later score on a Campbell single.

Seymour came back with a run in the top of the second, but Norwood responded with two in their half of the inning without the benefit of a hit.

With two runs in the third inning the Pirates took a 6-1 lead. The Pirates again scored in the inning with collecting a hit, but benefiting from an error and three wild pitches. Norwood tacked on three more runs in the fourth. Prichard singled and Chadwell reached on an error. They would both steal a base and Rein doubled them home. Rein would score on a Campbell single.

Seymour scored twice in the fifth.

Norwood used two of their extra base hits in the sixth to score four runs. Chadwell tripled and scored on a Rein double. Rein would score on a Campbell single. Davis followed with a single and moved up when Hyde reached on an error. Levi Mason singled in the final run.

Seymour would score two more in the seventh, but couldn’t overcome the Pirates.

Norwood’s only loss of the week came in a contest with Conway when Conway took an 11-4 win.

Conway started the scoring in the first with a homerun.

Davis would walk in the second and score, but Conway came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

The Pirates came back with two in the third to cut Conway’s lead to one. Prichard singled and Chadwell and Ogletree walked. Rein doubled home two runs.

Conway would score three in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Norwood’s final two runs scored in the seventh when Barnes singled with two outs and Prichard would follow with a walk. Chadwell would single to bring home the final runs.
