Panthers tally three wins during week

The Mountain Grove Panthers took wins from Salem, Mtn. View and Norwood in play last week.

The Panthers opened the week with a 79-52 win over Salem.

Mountain Grove held a 16-13 first quarter lead, but started to pull away in the second quarter and were up by 11 at halftime, and held a 52-35 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Ten Panthers scored in the game. D.J. McNew led the way with 14. Brock Coffman had 12; Carter Otwell, 11; Cade Coffman and Haydn Marah, 9; Thomas Clifton and Treye Collins, 6; Conner McNew, 5; Hayden Newberry, 4; and Dylan Massey, 3.

The Panthers captured their second South Central Association win Friday with a 90-72 win over Mtn. View.

Almost 50 points were scored by the teams in the first quarter with the Panthers coming away with a 29-20 lead.

Both teams kept up the scoring in the second quarter with 19. Mountain Grove pulled away in the third period outscoring Mtn. View, 19-5.

The teams again put 49 points on the scoreboard in the final period with Mtn. View outscoring the Panthers, 26-23, but couldn’t make up for the third quarter deficit.

Cade Coffman and D.J. McNew each had 21 to lead the Panthers. Brock Coffman had 19; Collins, 9; Otwell, 6; Sheppard, 5; Marah, 4; Clifton, 3;  and Gavin Veach, 2.

The Panthers took a non-conference win with a 72-41 victory over Norwood.

Mountain Grove held a 19-11 first quarter lead and were up 40-22 at halftime.

Cade Coffman led the scoring with 23. Brock Coffman had 13; Otwell and McNew, 11; Collins, 5; Marah, 3; Clifton, 2; and Connor McNew, 1.

The junior varsity also had wins over Salem, Mtn. View and Norwood.

The squad took a 72-38 win over Salem going out to a 41-17 halftime lead.

Gavin Veach led the scoring with 18. Connor McNew had 12; Newberry, 11; Dawson Hiler, 9; Massey, 8; Patrick Lane, 6; Sheppard, 4; Raleigh Wakefield and Austin Williams, 2.
