Tri-County unemployment rate improves

The Tri-County area saw its unemployment rate drop in the November report, but the counties also saw their labor force numbers decrease, according to figures from the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

Wright County reported a November unemployment rate of 4.7 percent down from 5.4 percent in October. The labor force in the county fell from 7,767 in October to 7,734 in November. In November of 2015 the unemployment rate in Wright County was reported at 4.8 percent, but the labor force numbers stood at 7,884.

Texas County had an unemployment rate in November of 5.4 percent, down from 5.9 percent in October. Texas County also saw its labor force numbers drop from 9,623 in October to 9,481 in November. In November of 2015 the county reported an unemployment rate of 5.4 percent and a labor force of 9,623.

Douglas County reported a November unemployment rate of 4.8 percent, down from 5.6 percent in October. In November the county’s labor force number stood at 5,141, down from 5,187 in October. Douglas County had a November 2015 unemployment rate of 5.3 percent and a labor force of 5,081.

Statewide, Missouri reported a 3.7 percent unemployment rate in November, down from 4.1 percent in October. The state’s labor force also showed a decline from 3,147,988 in October to 3,120,209 in November.
