The Missouri FFA Association recognized Brandon Andrus of the Mountain Grove FFA Chapter as Area 13 Star in Agribusiness at the 84th Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Donald and RaMona Andrus of Cabool, Mo. His advisor is Keeland Nix.

Area Stars in Agribusiness are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as part of a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience and active participation in FFA. Area 13 includes 21 chapters in the South Central District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 15 Area Star in Agribusiness Awards.

Andrus’s SAE program consists of raising registered Holstein heifers for his herd. He also gains extra income by selling pregnant heifers and cows as seed stock for other dairymen. His SAE also includes raising and selling registered Mountain Cur hunting dogs.

Andrus has served as the chapter’s 2nd vice president, historian and sentinel. He has competed in the dairy cattle, horse evaluation and dairy foods career development events. Andrus placed second in the Area 13 Diversified Wildlife Management Proficiency Award. He also received the chapter’s leadership medal.

The Missouri FFA has 25,760 members representing 327 chapters. The national organization has more than 540,000 members representing 7,489 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
