Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District to host soil sampling and forage re-establishment workshop

The Texas County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting a Soil Sampling and Forage Re-establishment workshop on July 31. This workshop is being offered to help in forage re-establishing lost by the spring drought and severe armyworm infestation.

Soil Samples are the first step in getting forages established and proper fertilization placed on your fields. **Bring your soil samples results with you if you have any questions on how to read them. **How to take a proper soil sample demonstration in will be in the test plot.

 

Speakers and topics for the evening will be Sarah Kenyon, Agronomy Specialist, who will have a presentation that will focus on establishing forages in time for fall planting and taking soil samples properly. Ted Probert, Dairy Specialist, and other NRCS staff will also be on hand to answer any questions.

The workshop will be held at the USDA Service Center 6726 S. Hwy 63, Houston, MO 65483.
