The Mountain Grove High School Alumni Memorial Foundation with a new president, treasurer and director is preparing for the crowd expected to descend on Alumni Park during Alumni weekend, July 4, 5 and 6.

Ann Altis, who is in charge of decorating the park, will be heading up a crew of workers on Thursday, July 3, beginning at 9 a.m. They will be stringing lights, hanging streamers and banners in red, white and blue as a welcome to visitors.

There will be new ceiling fans in the north pavilion to provide a more comfortable atmosphere for the expected overflow crowd.

Newly elected president Terry Azevedo; treasurer, Mike Housley; and director, Malcom Kemper, are all settling in to new responsibilities. Kemper is being given a pass on work in the park the day of the luncheon since his Class of 1964 is in charge of the parade. Sharon Sullivant has beautified the park with the flowers she has planted, watered and nourished. She is also in charge of coordinating the meal that will be served consisting of pulled pork on a bun, baked beans, slaw, chips and condiments for the cost of $6.  Persons can grab a plate, an ice cold drink and listen to the music of the Alumni Band playing Panther Boy from the bandstand.

The newest addition to the park is the stone faced columned fence and matching finish on the entrance, water fountain and gazebo. Donors to the park can have a plaque with their name or business placed on one of the 24 columns. First come, first serve, as to selection of which column. Persons can catch director Jim Breedlove at the park if interested. He is serving as the go-to man for the plaques. Engraved bricks can be bought and a limited number of the books, Meals and Memories, will be available.
